What: Spencerport Travel Baseball offers players the opportunity to play baseball against some of the best players from around the area in a serious and competitive environment.  Spencerport Travel Baseball participates in the Monroe County Baseball Region (MCBR) league.  The Spencerport Travel Baseball organization builds on the fundamental skills learned at the introductory levels, emphasizing skill development, hard work, commitment, and sportsmanship.

Tryouts: Tryouts take place in September for the following season.  Spencerport Travel Baseball attempts to field teams at the following various age groups each year: 8U, 9U, 10U, 11U, 12U, 13, 14U, 15U, 16U, and 17U.  Teams will be formed will depend on player counts, talent at tryouts and players may be cut and not be selected for a travel team. The date used to determine age eligibility for all levels is April 30th, 2021.  A player cannot have reached the age ceiling on or before the cut-off date of April 30th, 2021 to participate in that age level.

Time Commitment: Travel baseball is a significant commitment, just like any other travel sport.  Travel baseball coaches expect players to attend practices during the off-season and to attend both practices and games during the season.  If a player and their family are not ready to make this commitment, accepting a spot on a travel baseball team may not be in the best interest of all involved.

Season: MCBR holds a 16-game season with games across Monroe County. Playoffs for the 8U through 12U leagues conclude before July 4th and tournaments normally take place during the month of July. For 13 through 17U teams, playoffs conclude by the end of July and tournaments take place in July and early August.

House Baseball: The Spencerport Junior Baseball house program is a very good option for those players wishing to ready themselves for travel and it also offers the opportunity for some players to gain experience at positions they may not have the chance to play at the travel baseball level.   A player can play both travel and house baseball, however, it is expected that travel baseball will take precedent if there is a conflict with a house game or practice.

Playing Time: At the 8U through 12U levels, playing time is fairly even.  At the 13 through 17U levels, the better players may play more often. Playing time is earned at all levels through hard work and dedication.

Practices & Games:  Once teams are chosen in September, practices normally begin indoors in early January (Sunday’s) and continue outside beginning in mid-April through the entire season (usually twice a week - normally Wednesday and Saturday).  The 8U through 12U seasons begin in late April, while the 13 through 17U seasons begin in late May.  Most 8U through 12U games are played on Friday and Sunday, while the other leagues play on various nights throughout the week.

Fees: Costs for travel baseball are approximately $550 ($350 for 8U), not including the cost of tournaments.  Once teams are chosen and a player and their parents accept a roster spot, a deposit of $150 is due to secure a position.  Full payment is due by January.  Once a position on a team is accepted, the full fee is the obligation of the player.  If, at a later date, the player decides not to play, they are still required to pay the full travel fee.  The only exception to this is if the organization is able to replace the player; in that case, the amount collected from the new player will be deducted from the amount owed by the departing player.  Also, no refunds are available as all fees collected are paid out to external parties to cover the cost of the program.
