SPENCERPORT JUNIOR BASEBALL & SOFTBALL
VOLUNTEER REQUIREMENTS
Safety and accountability are at the heart of the Spencerport Junior Baseball & Softball experience. By requiring background checks, the league ensures that every adult on the field has been vetted, creating a secure environment where parents can feel confident leaving their children. The mandatory module training—covering everything from safety protocols to abuse prevention—equips volunteers with the critical knowledge needed to handle emergencies and maintain a positive, healthy atmosphere for the players.
Only registered volunteers that have completed the requirements may interact with players.
- BACKGROUND CHECK (ALL VOLUNTEERS): Once you register as a volunteer you will receive an email from “Spencerport JR Baseball Little League” asking you to complete the background questionnaire. The background check will be completed by Little League affiliated: JD Palantine and results will be reported to Spencerport Junior Baseball & Softball
- ABUSE AWARENESS & FIRST AWARENESS (ALL VOLUNTEERS): Via the Little League Training Portal all volunteers must complete the following two online modules.
- Abuse Awareness: education on recognizing, preventing, and reporting abuse. It covers sexual, physical, and emotional abuse, alongside bullying and harassment, to ensure a safe environment for players.
- First Aid Awareness: designed to equip volunteers, coaches, and parents with foundational knowledge to recognize common injuries, apply basic first aid, and respond to medical emergencies. It promotes player safety by covering injury prevention, when to call 911, and how to handle acute situations efficiently
- DIAMOND LEADER (HEAD COACHES): Via the Little League Training Portal head coaches must complete the following online module, all volunteers are welcome to complete it.
- Diamond Leader: for coaches focusing on supporting the mental, social, and emotional well-being of young players. It teaches coaches to prioritize child development over winning, using interactive scenarios to foster a positive, inclusive, and safe team environment on and off the field.
- AED/CPR (ALL VOLUNTEERS): All volunteers who either do not have an active American Red Cross CPR/BLS certification or did not attend the 2025 AED/CPR training must attend the 2026 AED/CPR training. AED/CPR training must be taken every two years.
- 2026 AED/CPR Training: Saturday April 11th 1030am-1130am @ Cosgrove MS
- IN-PERSON SKILLS TRAINING (NEW VOLUNTEERS): All volunteers are welcome, but new volunteers MUST attend in-person skills training to equip coaches with proven drills and teaching techniques. This ensures practices are productive, engaging, and age appropriate.
- 2026 In-Person Skills Training: Saturday April 11th 9am-1030am @ Cosgrove MS
